The Big Tree House is unique.You are invited to enjoy a memorable holiday in this timber frame double storey home. Self catering, with a magnificent view of the Knysna Heads and Lagoon, the Big Tree House is set amongst tall trees and a beautiful garden - a perfect base from which to enjoy all that Knysna has to offer.

Spacious comfortable and fully furnished, the home sleeps six and comprises of three bright bedrooms, an open plan sitting/dining room and a fully equipped modern kitchen. French doors open onto a spacious deck which is ideal for entertaining and sipping sundowners whilst viewing the exquisite Knysna sunsets.

Accommodation

 The main bedroom has a queen size bed, whilst upstairs there is a double bed and two single beds. Each bedroom enjoys lagoon views and all are en-suite, two with showers and one with a bath. Linen and towels are provided and are changed on a regular basis.

The Big Tree House is situated close to central Knysna and the lagoon. Private parking space is available for two cars, there are laundry facilities, DSTV, and a maid service is available on request

The Big Tree House Cottage

In additon to and just below The Big Tree House, a charming cottage with lagoon views offers ideal self catering accommodation for two.

The timber frame cottage is fully equipped and comprises of one bedroom en suite with a double bed, an open plan kitchen/sitting room with a door that leads out onto the deck. A perfect setting for a barbecue on a summers evening.

ACTIVITIES IN KNYSNA

Knysna nestles on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route of South Africa. It is surrounded by a natural paradise of lush indigenous forests, tranquil lakes and golden beaches, making it a real natural wonderland.

The town of Knysna is vibrant and buzzes with creativity and energy. It's a place where the you can watch the world go by. The main street is very leafy with trees along the pavements and it has a wonderful holiday atmosphere. During the winter months, the town remains a cheerful place to be because of its colour and vibrancy .

Golfing in the Garden Route

The Knysna Heads
Go for a walk along the Heads. Knysna Heads must be the most striking geological feature along the entire southern African coastline. The East and West Head flank a deep but potentially treacherous channel through which the sea pours in to flood the wide and breathtakingly pretty lagoon at the mouth of the Knysna River.
 
The Outeniqua Choo Tjoe
The Outeniqua Choo Tjoe is the steam hauled train which operates on the Outeniqualand Preserved Railway between George and Knysna in the heart of the world famous Garden Route. This unique steam train departs daily from George to Knysna in the morning and back to George in the afternoon.
 
Knysna Lagoon
A ferry ride across the lagoon is a great way to see the heads and get a full view of the lagoon. Knysna provides a wealth of opportunities for the keen fisherman: fly-fishing, rock and surf fishing, deepsea fishing, bass and trout fishing. The Knysna coastline is home to one of the highest diversity of marine mammals in the world - including whales and dolphins.
 
Knysna Forest
Comprises of 80,000 ha and lies just behind the town. It is the largest indigenous forest in South Africa. The fauna and flora is abundant and boasts exotic species, including yellow-wood, stinkwood and white alders. The Garden Route features some of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world, through forest, fynbos and along its pristine coastline.
 
Monkeyland
Monkeyland is unique as a primate sanctuary. It is home to many varied species of monkey from several continents which were captive bred prior to their release at Monkeyland. Situated 16 km east of Plett, it offers safaris conducted by game rangers. This is the world’s only multi species, free roaming primate sanctuary.
 
Knysna Elephant Park
Get up-close and personal with nature at Knysna Elephant Park. With the help of resident African elephants and well-informed guides, you will learn about the sad and mystical story of the Knysna Elephants (the world’s most Southern elephants).
 
Bird's of Eden - Free flight bird sanctuary
The unique two hectare dome (the World’s largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk-behind waterfall. Roofed viewpoints within the gorge have been erected for use during brief rain storms.
