Rein's Coastal Nature Reserve

Rein s Coastal Nature Reserve Self-catering accommodation in Albertinia Western Cape

Description

Nestled between Stilbaai and Gouritsmond, along the Garden Route, lies a sanctuary where body, mind and soul can be at ease. This breathtakingly beautiful nature reserve is situated in proximity to the sea with the rocky shore surrounding the coastline.

Rein's Nature Reserve comprises 3550ha unspoilt land and boasts a 7,5km coastline in the well known South African Garden Route. Situated only 40km away from Mossel Bay, it is "off the beaten track".

Lying peacefully along the rocky coastline between Still Bay and Gouritzmond is the 3550-hectare Rein’s Nature Reserve. The area is host to breathtakingly unspoiled fynbos along the well-known Garden route and the Cape Whale route. The word Gouriqua stems from the Khoi-Khoi who lived in this area about five hundred years ago.

Accommodation is provided in traditional southern Cape ‘Fisherman style’ cottages each offering privacy, superb views and unspoilt whale-watching opportunities. Accommodation is provided in the Family houses, Farmhouses, Fisherman cottages, and chalets. Each house includes a terrace and barbecue area for self-catering, or guests may make use of the “Skool-se-Bank” restaurant, which serves superb meals.

Rein’s location is ideal for those wanting to enjoy the unique fynbos floral kingdom, with its accompanying bird and wildlife including bontebok, springbok, eland, grey rheebuck, Cape mountain zebra, bushbuck, steenbok, duiker and grysbok. The coastline is rocky and undulating with rocks and reefs extending far into the sea, creating tidal pools with their own ecosystems. The area is also the breeding ground for the Southern Right Whale who return to these waters each year between July and November to calve.
