Sumaridge Wines & Self Catering

Sumaridge Wines & Self Catering Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Hermanus Western Cape

Description

After driving 5,000km all across South Africa – mainly on the Greenwood trail, of course - Simon and Holly finally bought Sumaridge Wine Estate, sandwiched between the mountains and vineyards of the (up-and-coming) Hemel-en-Aarde wine valley. With the help of Sharon and Gavin, they've transformed the former farm cottage into a gorgeous, secluded, four-room house and separate annex.....

.... With so much to do here - horses, mountain-biking, hiking, bass fishing and, of course, wine-tasting - it would have been some sort of crime not to! Most visitors stop for a rabbit pie or bobotie in the estate's fine restaurant before driving out down a bumpy track to the cottage. Here you have the freedom to go to war on the boules ‘court’, popping inside for snacks from the fully-fitted kitchen to keep up energy levels, followed by a post-mortem over a glass or several of chardonnay in the verandah Jacuzzi; all this without having to put your shoes on. The main house has four en-suite bedrooms, all with brushed-oak flooring and each gently themed to a local indigenous flower. The extra large rooms also boast private patios and flow into the indoor-outdoor lounge verandah, the heart of the house. There is also a smart wheelchair-friendly annex, perfect for couples or those with limited mobility. Great for families, groups, house parties, weekends away...a gorgeous place.
