Welcome to Intsomi Forest Lodge.

The first of two lodges on the property, Forest Lodge was built with the environment in mind. Raised above the forest floor, its organic structure seamlessly blends into the ancient forest.

While our guests enjoy lounging on the lodges ample decks and in the open lounges, the abundance of birds and local wildlife such as our endemic tree hyrax can be seen drinking at the strategically positioned water point or just watching us from one of the enormous white stinkwoods that make this forest unique.

The lodge forces you to relax and connect with your other self.

Accommodation

Intsomi offers exceptional accommodation where attention to detail is apparent. Filled with artefacts, historical and cultural pieces, these suites are a synthesis of modern convenience, styling, comfort and epitomise South African heritage.

Each of the 8 luxury double suites offer beautiful bathrooms, climate control, stocked mini bars, tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephones and hair dryers. Three walls of every suite open up entirely to allow the outside and inside worlds to merge. Sit in the tranquil privacy of your 'own' forest and enjoy the unique sights and sounds.

Spa

The forest wellness centre is almost complete. In the interim, the full range of treatments can be booked at the lodge and enjoyed in the privacy of your own suite or in a secluded forest area.

Swimming Pool & Deck

Spend the day relaxing around our sparkling pool overlooking the valley and waterhole. Swimmng towels are provided for your convenience, while our staff will be onhand to serve you your favourite beverage.

Dining

Experience the best of South African cuisine. Sumptuous chef prepared breakfasts and (fine dining) dinners are served in the main lodge dining room. Enjoy the unique Intsomi tastes and aromas. Sample South African wines and indulge in traditional foods. Lunch is available at the lodge and a limited a la carte menu provides options to suit all tastes. Weather permitting, meals can be served on the main lodge deck.

Pre dinner cocktails are served in the main lodge bar and sundowners can be enjoyed on the deck overlooking the waterhole – a good vantage point to view the animals that congregate for their evening drink.

We offer room service for your convenience.

From time to time, meals are served in the forest boma. Be entertained by ‘indigenous cabaret’ followed by folklore stories retold in the atmospheric surrounds of flickering shadows, fireside, lamplight and eager faces.

The Lodge lends itself to numerous opportunities with regard to creating the ambience that suits your particular occassion. We can seat a maximum of 75 guests indoors or out. We cater for a number of occassions including weddings, special corporate events and executive conferences as well as for the discerning individual who wants to get away with friends for an exclusive escape.

From Port Elizabeth * Follow the N2 from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown. * Take the R72 turn-off towards Port Alfred. Immediately prior to entering Alexandria, turn right at the 'Kaba/Grootvlei' sign. * Drive through the security boom and follow the signs for 'Intsomi Forest Lodge / Woody Cape Nature Reserve'. * After 2km, turn sharp left. * The second turn is to the right after 2.3 km. Turn left after 1.6km. * Travel a further 3.6km, go past the entrance for 'Woody Cape Nature Reserve' and after crossing the Culvert bump, look for the 'Intsomi Forest Lodge' sign and turn right into the forest (approx 200m from the bump). * Continue for 2km to the lodge. From East London * Follow the R72 from East London, Port Alfred to Alexandria. * On exiting Alexandria, turn left at the 'Kaba/Grootvlei' sign. * Drive through the security boom and follow the signs for 'Intsomi Forest Lodge / Woody Cape Nature Reserve'. * After 2km, turn sharp left. The second turn is to the right after 2.3 km. * Turn left after 1.6km.
