At all times of the year, the traveler is able to revel in an abundance on Ericas (heather’s), Proteas and Restios - the main components of Fynbos. The spectacular Wildflower Show staged by the South Cape Herbarium each year in October is a not-to-be-missed event. There are a number of pioneer roads that wind through these mystical forests and you can enjoy country pleasures while exploring the Outeniqua Country Hop route. Winding up from the delightful Herold's Bay on the R404, turning off through farmlands to explore strawberry and herb farms, cheese and candle making, while children and adults alike can enjoy the great outdoors, strawberry picking, horse riding and bird sanctuary. In its beautiful surroundings, George has many outdoor activities on offer include hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, whale watching in season, 4x4 and horse riding at various locations.
